Energy saving tips
- Shut windows and external doors when operating, but do
not block off fixed ventilation.
- Minimise the space being heated at any one time, close
off unheated areas.
- Regularly clean filters, ducts and reflectors.
- Set thermostat setting as low as practicable between
18 and 21 degrees C in living areas, and below 18 degrees
C in bedrooms.
- Reduce heat lost from the building by insulating ceilings
and walls, sealing out draughts, allowing sunlight to enter
during the day, and closing window coverings at night-time.
- Turn heating off overnight or while out during the day
Energy efficient heaters
Most people consider features such as looks, size, capacity
and price when buying a new gas heater. It is important to
also check the operating costs of the model you are about
to purchase.
Ongoing running costs can easily exceed the original purchase
price of a heater. So check the star rating before you buy.
