| Question |
Can
you run evaporative cooling through the heating duct work? |
| Answer: |
No, the differing
air volumes between ducted heating and evaporative cooling
don't allow the units to share the same duct work. |
|
| Question |
Do
my ducts need to be cleaned? |
| Answer: |
In our view:
Cleaning the ducts is NOT necessary in the majority of
installations. You may, however, need to occasionally
clean the heating outlet points where small objects and/or
dirt particles from foot traffic may have entered. Very
little dust, if any, will settle in the ducts because
of the velocity of the air passing through the duct
The implied safety benefits of cleaning domestic duct
systems, we believe, are not valid. These are sealed systems
with low levels of dust accumulation. Installations we
have visited, some over 30 years old, have shown duct
cleaning is rarely justified.
If dust is a problem and you are concerned about the system
circulating it through the home, this would be better
resolved by installing a Return Air Filter at the air
intake. A correctly sized, installed and maintained Return
Air Filter would reduce general dust levels in the home
and the heating system.
If you do plan to have your duct system cleaned, we would
recommend that, during your normal periodic maintenance
service, you ask your qualified Service Technician to
quickly inspect the ducting.
Then you will have a clear understanding of the condition
of the ducts before the cleaning takes place, be able
to assess any work undertaken, and if necessary, enforce
the guarantee. |
|
| Question |
Does
a ducted heating system create more dust in the home? |
| Answer: |
No. The central
heating system will only circulate the existing air from
within your home.
If you are worried by the movement of dust particles you
can have a filter fitted to the return air grille. |
|
| Question |
Does
my Filter (if fitted) in my Return Air, need to be cleaned? |
| Answer: |
If a return
air filter is fitted in the return air grille, it requires
regular cleaning, and should be checked every fortnight.
A blocked filter will seriously affect the heater's performance
and economical operation. |
|
| Question |
Does
the filter media clean the air? |
| Answer: |
It most certainly
does- it catches all the dust and many smaller particles
such as pollens, both of which cause human discomfort.
Of course you must keep the filter pads clean.
Approximately 95% extraction of solid air borne particles
are removed. |

| Question |
How
do I program my Networker Wall Control? |
| Answer: |
The Networker
Heating Only
Winter Warmth.
The only thing better than coming home to a warm house
on a cold day, is waking up to a cosy bedroom and bathroom
on a freezing winter's morning.
Now, your Brivis Networker puts this luxury at your fingertips.
If it's simplicity you want, the Networker allows you
to operate your system manually, using just a couple of
basic controls. On the other hand, you can have a heating
system that really does the thinking for you.
The Networker has Timer/Thermostat programs that allow
you to direct the system to provide the temperature you
want, when you want it, and where you want it.
Getting Started.
Once you have read "Introducing the Networker" operating
the heater in Manual couldn't be simpler.
Start with the Networker turned OFF [1]. (If you have
the Networker ON while switching between units you could
start the wrong one inadvertantly).
If you have other appliances on the network, then just
press the MODE control key [4] until it selects "Heater"
[4a].
Next, turn the Networker ON [1] and press the AUTO Control
key [3] until the word "Manual" [3a] appears near the
bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
At the same time, the heater's "Set" temperature [15]
will appear at the top of the screen. (Note, the current
"Room" temperature [12] is still visible in the top right
of the screen).
This "Set" temperature [15], is the temperature the heater
is set to maintain. To change it, use the ROTARY DIAL
[2] to select the temperature you require.
That's it !! Now you have heating!
If the current "Room" temperature is lower than the "Set"
temperature, the heater will operate to reach and maintain
the "Set" temperature.
Of course, if the current "Room" temperature is higher
than the "Set" temperature, the heater will not switch
on until it falls below that "Set" temperature.
And when you no longer need heating, just press the ON/OFF
button [1] to turn the system off. |

| Question |
How
do I start my Brivis MPS heater? |
| Answer: |
1. Ensure
Wall Control is in the OFF mode.
2. Turn ON the gas supply and electrical power to the
appliance at the external switch ensuring the plug is
firmly located in the socket.
3. The heater may now be operated from your Wall Control.
Note: If the heater fails to start and the RESET indicator
on the Wall Control is visible and is displaying an error
in the range 50 - 59, the unit is in an ignition "lock
out". Simply press the RESET button on the Wall Control
or on the electronic controller within the heater (round
button on R.H.S. of display) to initiate the start up
sequence. If the unit fails to light after four RESET
attempts, or the displayed error is not in the range 50
- 59, contract Brivis for service. |

| Question |
How
do I Program my Electronic Thermostat ? |
| Answer: |
The Classic
model Electronic Wall Controller.
At first glance, an electronic wall control can look complicated
but it really is very simple. It can be as basic or as
sophisticated as you need or want it to be.
These instructions are designed to allow you to choose
just how far you want to go.
We start by setting the current time. Then, with just
two steps we can have the heating system operating.
STEP 1. "How do I set the clock?"
Setting the time involves 4 keys:
- Start by pressing SET PRESENT DAY/TIME.
- Now use the DAY key to display the current day.
- Then use the TIME keys (AHEAD/BACK) to set the correct
time.
- To save your changes, press RUN PROGRAM.

STEP 2. "How do I get instant heat?"
Move the switch marked HEAT OFF COOL to "Heat" and make
sure the FAN switch is in "Auto".
Normally, the display shows the current room temperature.
The system however, works to maintain a Set Temperature
and pressing the PRESENT SETTING key will display that
Set Temperature.
If the current room temperature is lower than the Set
Temperature, the heater will operate to reach and maintain
the Set Temperature.
Of course, if the current room temperature is higher than
the Set Temperature, the heater will not switch on until
it falls below that Set Temperature.

To change the Set Temperature:
First, press the HOLD TEMP key to ensure that your new
setting will be held for as long as you want.
Then, just use the TEMPERATURE keys, (WARMER/COOLER),
to raise and lower that Set Temperature.
At this point you have enough information to use the electronic
wall controller to operate the heating system manually.
But, if you wish, it can do much more.
Automatic Operation.
In automatic mode the electronic wall controller has a
auto-program that has been preset to turn the system ON
in the morning and OFF when you go to sleep at night.
Wake 6:00am 21o C.
Leave - - - -
Return - - - -
Sleep 10:00pm - -
However, as you can see, the system does allow for a total
of four periods.
The WAKE setting is usually used to start the system and
pre-warm the house before everyone gets up and, the LEAVE
setting can turn it off when the family has left for the
day.
RETURN is then used to switch the system back on again
just before everyone gets home and SLEEP can turn it off
after they are all asleep.
It is recommended that the system be set to turn OFF overnight
[as displayed by the (- -) symbol] to save energy and
lower your gas bill.
If the preset times and temperatures do not suit your
lifestyle they can easily be changed. All you have to
do is tell it what you would like it to do.
Note: The Classic electronic wall controller is powered
by 3 alkaline batteries. When the REPL BAT message appears
on the screen, remove the Controller from its base by
lossening the screws at the bottom corners and replace
the batteries.
STEP 1.
Select the Period you wish to Change.
There are separate keys for WAKE, LEAVE, RETURN and SLEEP.
Just press the key for the period you want to change.

Once you have selected the period you want, move to Step
2 if you want change the Time or Step 3 if you want to
change the Temperature.
STEP 2. Changing the Time of a Period.
After selecting the Period to be changed then ...
- Press the DAY key to select the day.
Note: In programming, the DAY key gives you all the weekdays
in one block. This is designed to avoid having to program
every weekday individually.

- Now use the TIME keys (AHEAD/BACK) to set the time you
want the system to come on, making sure you allow time
for it to reach the Set Temperature.
- To save your changes, press RUN PROGRAM.
STEP 3.
Changing the Temperature of a Period.
Again, select the Period to be changed then ...
- Press the DAY key to select the day.

- Now use the TEMPERATURE keys (WARMER/ COOLER), to raise
and lower the Set Temperature.
- To save your changes, press RUN PROGRAM.
Once you have completed this process for Saturday, Sunday
and the weekdays, you have programmed your heating system.
STEP 4. Overriding the Program.
If you want to interrupt the program for any reason you
can.
The simplest method is to use the TEMPERATURE keys (WARMER/
COOLER) and just select the temperature you want.
But, there are also three other options.

If all the periods have been programmed, then the SKIP
NEXT PERIOD key allows you to stay in the current settings
and ignore the next period.
So, if you're in the WAKE period and you decide to stay
home all day, just press SKIP and the WAKE period will
be maintained right through until the RETURN period begins.
If the system has already started the LEAVE period and
you decide not to go out, just press CHANGE TO LAST PERIOD
and the system will go back to the WAKE period settings
until RETURN begins.
All of these changes are temporary because the automatic
program will resume when it reaches the next program period.
If you want to suspend the entire program for hours, days,
weeks, or whatever, simply press HOLD TEMP, then use the
TEMPERATURE keys to set the required temperature. The
system will then hold that temperature for as long as
you want.
Once the circumstances return to normal, you can cancel
any of these changes and return to the program by pressing
RUN PROGRAM.
STEP 5. Fan Only Operation.
In AUTO mode the fan is controlled by the heater but you
can have the fan connected so that it will run continuously
when the Fan selection switch is turned ON.

This facility can be added to any Brivis heater. Just
ask your installer to make the connection when installing
the system. |
